1. Why does it take up to 14 business days for me to get my Elevation Certificate?

Usually, it takes anywhere from three to 14 business days from the time we receive your payment for you to receive your Elevation Certificate. If we can't meet our estimated turnaround time, we'll call to let you know and explain the situation.

If you're in a hurry to get your Elevation Certificate, we offer a rush service for an additional fee.

As you might expect, in order for us to provide an Elevation Certificate, we need to physically visit your home to get an elevation reading, and there's the obvious travel time involved with making an onsite visit to your property.

But there are some other factors that can impact the turnaround time for your Elevation Certificate, some of which might not be so obvious:

  • whether your property's in a rural, metropolitan, or commercial location
  • the accuracy of the property information submitted
  • our contracted surveyor's workload
  • the ease with which the surveyor can find the elevation benchmarks
  • the weather, property conditions and, yes, even local wildlife

The process goes beyond looking up the data for your house in public records or searching a database. We invest the time necessary to produce a quality product for you. Our surveyors research your property information prior to leaving their office, but the lion's share of the work is time spent locating the elevation benchmark, going onsite to find the elevation benchmark, taking the elevation readings of your property, making elevation calculations, double-checking the calculations, and producing the Elevation Certificate.

And if your state doesn't recognize electronic signatures, then there's mail time involved in getting the actual hard copy document delivered to you.

2. What can I do to improve my turnaround time?

  • Be sure to include an accurate address.
  • Provide us with the legal description for your property.
  • Arrange for someone to be available to give the surveyor access to your property, crawl space, and basement.
  • If you need a rush order, please make note of it on your order, along with your requested turnaround time. Keep in mind, there is an extra fee associated with this service.
